Physician Licensure Categories
Intern
Qualifications
MBBS or MBChB or equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
Experience
No experience required*
Resident
Qualifications
MBBS or MBChB or equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
Experience
Successful completion of the internship program
And
Additional requirements as per the relevant Authority’s residency standards.
General Practitioner
Qualifications
MBBS or MBChB or equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
Experience
Successful completion of the internship program
And
Two (2) years of clinical experience.
Specialist
Qualifications
MBBS or MBChB or equivalent qualification from an accredited institution
And
Completion of specialty qualification as per the “Recognized Specialty Certificate” table.
Experience by Tier
• No experience is required after obtaining sub-specialty qualification*
Non-UAE Nationals: • Three (3) years of experience after obtaining main specialty qualification.
• Two (2) years of experience after obtaining sub-specialty qualification.
